<p>The Daucus carota was observed in Danby grasslands. We placed a transect tape (length: 20 meters) in the grassland, in a straight line. Beginning at 0 meters on the transect tape, onwards, we observed each Daucus carota encountered and recorded the distance along the transect line in centimeters. 20 individuals were sampled; each individual Daucus carota within 30 centimeters of the transect line on either side was considered. Each individual was held upright if it was not already so and its height (measured with a transect tape) was recorded in centimeters.
