<p>The experiment was conducted in York University grassland on Thursday, Sep.25.2014 to measure the abundance and diversity of various plant species/ genus in the campus grassland.In order to estimate local flora populations an experiment was conducted by placing a 1 square meter grid on the ground and surveying the plant species within it by abundance, richness, and cover. The plant classification was done by genus or species where appropriate. The abundance was measured by subdividing the grid into 4 sub-quadrats and counted the number or plants per species within it. The richness was counted as the number of different plants within each quadrat. Finally, the cover for each quadrat was estimated visually. The experiment was repeated 20 t...
