Effect of supplementation with n-3 LCPUFA or olive oil on DNA methylation of FADS2 and FADS1 in the Study 1 cohort.

<p>Values are mean or adjusted (Adj) mean ±SEM methylation of individual CpG loci at the end of the dietary intervention period in individuals who received either the n-3 LCPUFA or OO supplements. Numbers of subjects are indicated in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0109896#pone-0109896-t001" target="_blank">Table 1</a>. Comparisons between the level of methylation of individual CpG loci between supplementation groups at the end of the intervention were by ANCOVA. Means were adjusted for the level of methylation at baseline, age, BMI, and proportion of lymphocytes and neutrophils in blood, with Bonferroni’s <i>post hoc</i> correction. Adjusted means that were differed significantly are indicated by *P<0.05, **P<0.01, ***P<0.001, ****P<0.0001.
