Isolation of DNA and Vaginal Cells from Inserted Gel Applicators.

<p>Vaginally inserted applicators or sham applicators were swabbed with a double headed rayon swab (1) to which one head was placed in a lysis buffer for DNA extraction and the other in Cytorich red for fixation of vaginal cells (2). The fixed vaginal cells were spotted onto slides for cytokeratin 4 immunohistochemistry (3).
