Reaction of the alkenyl-substituted carbene complex [Ru(κ<sup>2</sup>-O<sub>2</sub>CMe)(OC{Me}O(CCHCH<sub>2</sub>)(PPh<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub>]<sup>+</sup> with PPh<sub>3</sub> results in the formation of the vinylidene-containing species [Ru(κ<sup>1</sup>-O<sub>2</sub>CMe)(κ<sup>2</sup>-O<sub>2</sub>CMe)(CCHCH<sub>2</sub>PPh<sub>3</sub>)(PPh<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub>]<sup>+</sup>, among other products.
