This paper assesses the introduction of case method of teaching on student perceptions of teaching effectiveness. The context for this paper is a tourism policy and planning course taught to third year students at the School of Tourism and Leisure Management at the University of Queensland, Australia. Cases were used as a teaching and as assessment method. The results indicate an overall improvement in student course evaluations over the previous year related to the case study teaching method. Problems in implementation of case method are discussed
