ER stress is detected in both prion-infected and GDL-exposed COCS.

<p>(<b>A</b>) <i>Tg</i>a<i>20</i> COCS (prion-infected or NBH-exposed) were harvested at 42 dpi, and probed for p-PERK, p-eIF2α, and ATF4 by western blot. Densitometry (normalized to actin) showed a trend towards increased p-PERK (<i>p</i> = 0.14) and significantly elevated p-eIF2α and ATF4 after prion infection. (<b>B</b>) COCS were cultured for 14 days, treated with POM1 or IgG, harvested at 3 dpe, and probed for p-PERK, p-eIF2α and ATF4 by western blot. Densitometry (normalized to actin) revealed increased p-PERK, p-eIF2α, and ATF4. Densitometry data were analyzed using a two-tailed t-test; <i>n</i> = 3 biological replicates.
