<p>The data are presented by geographical region (as in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0126004#pone.0126004.s002" target="_blank">S1 Fig</a>) and for two time periods (1980s-1990s, and 2000s). These two time periods were selected based on the overall trend of <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0126004#pone.0126004.g002" target="_blank">Fig 2A</a>, which shows partial recovery of specialist species in the early 2000s. In the 1980s-1990s, a total of 443 populations declined, 351 increased and 42 were stable (no change). In the 2000s, a total of 562 species declined, 441 increased, and 64 remained stable.
