Maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree based on 26,740 variable nucleotide positions across 53 M. ulcerans strains by RAxML. The tree was rooted using M. marinum (Mu_06–3844) as outgroup. The geographical origin of the strains is indicated to the right of the tree and branches are coloured according to the region of isolation of the strains. Bootstrap values higher than 50% are shown along the branches. The insert shows the pMUM plasmid SNP tree based on 21 SNPs with the topology matching the corresponding chromosome-based tree.</p
