TGF-β inhibits HGF expression through Smad2/3 dependent mechanisms.

<p>(A) 41CAFs were treated with 5ng/ml TGF-β for 24 or 48 hours, and analyzed for HGF expression in conditioned media by ELISA. (B) 41CAFs were transfected with control siRNA (Con), or siRNAs to Smad2 (S2) or Smad3 (S3), treated with 5 ng/ml TGF-β for 48 hours, and analyzed for HGF expression in by ELISA. (C) 41CAFs were treated with 5ng/ml TGF-β in the presence or absence of increasing concentrations of HGF for 48 hours, and analyzed for CXCL1 expression by ELISA. Statistical analysis was performed using Two Tailed T-Test (A), or One Way ANOVA followed by Bonferonni post-hoc comparisons (B, C).
