A new technique for the solution of the stiff differential equations describing the transient behaviour of nonlinear electronic circuits is presented. This technique is based on the single Newton-Raphson iteration per one time-point strategy and variable-order backward-differentiation formulas (BDF). The cost effectiveness of the method as well as an appropriate order and step control algorithm are discussed and also the possibility of handling piecewise-linear element models is demonstrated
