Inhibitory effects of radiation on mediator release and cytokine production by human mast cells.

<p>HMC-1(5C6) and LAD2 cells were incubated for 30 min in medium containing human IgE. Cells were exposed to ionizing radiation (0–1 Gy) before the addition of anti-IgE. The histamine concentration (A), β-hexosaminidase concentration (B), and cytokine (TNF-α) production (C) were determined in supernatants. Data represent the mean ± SEM from five independent experiments performed in duplicate. * p < 0.05, # p < 0.05 versus the corresponding control group of HMC-1(5C6) and LAD2 cells, respectively.
