Exercise prevented the impairment of object recognition memory resulting from low doses of arsenic exposure.

<p>Mice were administered arsenic and underwent swimming exercise daily for 12 weeks and were subsequently trained in the object recognition memory task. Long-term memory was tested 24 h later. <b>(A)</b> Exercise had no effect on the exploration time in mice treated with 3 mg/ kg arsenic when exploring two identical objects (<i>p</i> > 0.05). <b>(B)</b> Exercise increased the exploration time to novel object in mice treated with 3 mg/ kg arsenic (<i>p</i> < 0.05). <b>(C, D)</b> Exercise had no effect on the exploration time in mice treated with 10 mg/ kg arsenic when exploring two identical objects or exploring two different objects (both <i>p</i> > 0.05).
