Four new actinide chalcogenidesnamely, Ba<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>4</sub>USe<sub>6</sub>, Ba<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>2</sub>ThSe<sub>5</sub>, Ba<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>2</sub>USe<sub>5</sub>, and Sr<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>2</sub>US<sub>5</sub>were synthesized via solid-state methods at 1173 K. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies show that Ba<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>4</sub>USe<sub>6</sub> crystallizes in a new structure type in space group <i>C</i><sub>2<i>h</i></sub><sup>5</sup>–<i>P</i>2<sub>1</sub>/<i>c</i> of the monoclinic system, whereas the three other compounds are isostructural and adopt the Ba<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>2</sub>US<sub>5</sub> structure type in space group <i>C</i><sub>2<i>h</i></sub><sup>3</sup>–<i>C</i>2/<i>m</i>, also of the monoclinic system....
