In dieser Arbeit werden die magnetischen Eigenschaften von mit Molekularstrahlepitaxie (MBE) hergestellten GaN:Gd Schichten untersucht. Strukturelle Untersuchungen bestätigen den substitutionellen Einbau des Gd auf Ga Plätzen im dreifach geladenen Zustand (3+). Die Proben weisen eine schlechte Reproduzierbarkeit hinsichtlich der magnetischen Eigenschaften auf und es werden starke Hinweise gefunden, daß Defekte mit einer Konzentration von ca. 1019 cm-3 eine wichtige Rolle für die magnetischen Eigenschaften spielen.
