Untersucht wird die Brutherdentwicklung von Ips typographus (L.) unter epidemischen Bedingungen in einer natürlichen Fichtenwaldregion Niedersachsens, in der der Lebenszyklus der Käfer nicht durch forstliche Maßnahmen beeinträchtigt wird. Es werden Methoden vorgestellt, mit denen in der Beziehung Fichte/Buchdrucker die Muster auftretender Brutherde als raumzeitliche, dynamische Strukturen auf individueller Ebene untersucht und das Brutgeschehen einer Kausalanalyse zugänglich gemacht werden können.
