Aufgrund mangelnder Früherkennung und schlechter Ansprechraten der Therapien ist das Outcome für Patienten mit Nierenzellkarzinom (NZK) bis zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt unbefriedigend. Das Problem der schlechten Früherkennung liegt zum einem an fehlenden Frühsymptomen, zum anderen daran, dass keine Screeningmethode beim NZK zur Verfügung steht, die zu einem frühen Zeitpunkt Veränderungen auf Seiten der Niere erkennen lässt.
