Distance between adult trees and their closest sapling going on a transect

<p>On Wednesday the 23rd of September 2015, the experiment took place in the wood lot behind Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. The experiment was comparing adult trees to their closest sapling along a transect; the leaves of the two trees were compared to match them. The transect was placed near the path close to the law school and pulled inward of the forest. While walking along the transect, 10 replicates were chosen. The diameters of both the adult and sapling tree were recorded. The distance between the adult and the sapling were also recorded as well as canopy cover. This data can show how well are trees growing in this woodlot and if there is a correlation between the distance between adult trees and their sapling and the growth of the sapling.
