The paper introduces an intelligent fault diagnosis system for new assembly transmission. Order analysis method is used to analysis and process vibration signal of automotive transmission. After the initial set of feature vectors is obtained, improved genetic search strategy is used to select feature, so as to reduce the dimension of feature vector set, and feature vector sets selected are input into the BP neural network for fault identification and classification of assembly transmission. A large number of data are collected from industrial site and analyzed, validity and accuracy of proposed algorithm is verified
