Wireless sensor networks have become popular due to the variety application in both military and civilian fields. The routing algorithms that have been proposed for Mobile Ad Hoc networks in literatures are not well suitable for wireless sensor networks which have limited resources. In order to increase the network lifetime and the system performance, a multipath disjoint routing algorithm, named as DMP, is proposed for wireless sensor networks in this paper. The routing algorithm exploits the different paths to transmit data from the source node to the destination node. The simulation results show that DMP improves the packet delivery ratio, enhances throughput, saves energy consumption of all sensor nodes and reduces delay in, comparison ...
