The phosphonium dimer [-Cy<sub>2</sub>PCH(OH)CH<sub>2</sub>-]<sub>2</sub>(X)<sub>2</sub>, X = Cl<sup>–</sup>, Br<sup>–</sup> was used to synthesize and characterize a variety of late transition metal complexes containing chelating phosphino-enolate (PCy<sub>2</sub>CHCHO<sup>–</sup>), imine (PCy<sub>2</sub>CH<sub>2</sub>CHNR, R = Ph, (<i>S</i>)-CHMePh), and oxime (PCy<sub>2</sub>CH<sub>2</sub>CHNOH) ligands.
