Regioselective Electrophilic Access to Naphtho[1,2‑<i>b</i>:8,7‑<i>b</i>′]- and -[1,2‑<i>b</i>:5,6‑<i>b</i>′]dithiophenes

A two-step one purification access to dichloronaphtho­[1,2-<i>b</i>:8,7-<i>b</i>′] and [1,2-<i>b</i>:5,6-<i>b</i>′]­dithiophenes using bis-alkylnaphthyl alkynes and phthalimidesulfenyl chloride as starting materials has been developed.
