<p>After one week of stimulation, the levels of latent and active TGF-β1 were examined by ELISA in supernatants of epithelial cells exposed to cigarette smoke. CTRL = A549 unstimulated, CSE 5% = A549 exposed to CSE 5%, CSE 10% = A549 exposed to CSE 10%. Results from four independent experiments each of them in triplicate are expressed as mean <u>+</u>SD. * p <0.01 versus untreated control.</p
