Taking advantage of a continuous-flow apparatus, the iridium(III)-containing polytungstate cluster K<sub>12</sub>Na<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>[Ir<sub>2</sub>Cl<sub>8</sub>P<sub>2</sub>W<sub>20</sub>O<sub>72</sub>]·37H<sub>2</sub>O (<b>1</b>) was obtained in a reasonable yield (13% based on IrCl<sub>3</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O). Compound <b>1</b> was characterized by Fourier transform IR, UV–visible, <sup>31</sup>P NMR, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and thermogravimetric analysis measurements. <sup>31</sup>P NMR, ESI-MS, and elemental analysis all indicated <b>1</b> was a new polytungstate cluster compared with the reported K<sub>14</sub>[(IrCl<sub>4</sub>)KP<sub>2</sub>W<sub>20</sub>O<sub>72</sub>] compound.
