ACIAR project ASEM/2003/052 is a major research program, which will generate substantial information about tree farming and timber markets. There will be a critical need to translate research findings into new technology (techniques, management systems, regulations and policies), and to promote adoption of this new technology to major forestry stakeholders in Leyte, particularly tree growers and regulatory agencies. A particular aim will be to increase the financial returns to smallholders from tree growing. The project will have a particular focus on current tree growers with stands registered with the DENR
