Assessment of mitochondrial network in differentiated adipocytes.

<p>Mitochondria in differentiated adipocytes were charged by Mitotracker Red and mitochondrial network was assessed by confocal microscopy; cells were scored as described in the Materials section. The proportions of the fragmented and fused mitochondria were plotted as pie charts (n = 4). To assess statistical significance chi square test was performed, where the distribution of the white adipocytes was the expected distribution. The distribution of the AICAR-treated white adipocytes and beige adipocytes were significantly different from the untreated white adipocytes (p<0.01), while there was no statistical difference between AICAR-treated white adipocytes and beige adipocytes. Representative images of the mitochondrial network is presented on the figure. A part of these images had been enlarged.
