Investigation and monitoring of power quality is necessary to maintain accurate operation of sensitive equipment. Electrical power systems of mines with their sophisticated technology will always have a need for monitoring power quality to ensure that critical processes are operating efficiently. Two of the most common power quality problems, Voltage Sag and Harmonics are investigated for a Remote Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea. Field power quality data is collected by PQNode(R) and then simulated using the PSCAD (R) / EMTDC (TM) software. Results are then compared with appropriate standards and subsequently correct mitigation techniques are investigated
