Journal articles on the topic of ‘technology’ in the Arts and Humanities Citation Index - A preliminary visual and textual exploration

Introductory bibliometrics-based data visualization and textual analysis of bibliographic and citation data from scholarly articles in the Arts and Humanities Citation Index.<br>The research questions supporting this project are: what humanities journals have published articles related to the topic of technology, how is that topic represented in humanities articles, and, how has frequency of use of this keyword changed in humanities publishing? I have chosen to explore bibliographic data (reference information from published journal articles) indexed in the Web of Knowledge Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI). The application of citation-based metrics is difficult in the humanities and the citation data provides a unique component to this analysis. <p>To explore the data in meaningful ways and answer the research questions (in the limited space provided for the current project), I am interested in which journals have published papers using the keyword “technology” and the associated article title, keywords, subject category, abstract, and times cited. For general comparative purposes, we focus on journal articles in AHCI published in 1990/91 (combined), 2000, and 2014 (in total, approximately 2,300 of the 218,000 articles in AHCI for these dates).
