<p>The plants were exposed to three different treatments for 10 days (0–10 d): 1) well drained and illuminated (control, black and closed circles), 2) submergence in darkness (white and open circles) or 3) non-submergence in darkness (triangles). From 10 d on, the plants were exposed to the normal growth conditions experienced by the control plants. The data are presented as the means ± SE, n = 5.
