Recent nanofluidic experiments revealed strongly different surface charge measurements for boron-nitride (BN) and graphitic nanotubes when in contact with saline and alkaline water (<i>Nature</i> <b>2013</b>, <i>494</i>, 455–458; <i>Phys.
