The prevalence of cancer increases with age, with over 60% of cancer diagnoses and 70% of cancer mortality occurring in people aged ≥65 years. As life expectancy increases, the number of people in the United States of America aged ≥65 years diagnosed with cancer is expected to increase by 67% between 2010 and 2030. Predictions indicate that by 2030 up to one in five people aged ≥65 years in the United Kingdom will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.
