Skin tissue cytokine profiles of mice subcutaneously inoculated with <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>.

<p>Levels of (<b>a</b>) interleukin 6 (IL-6), (<b>b</b>) monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), and (<b>c</b>) interferon γ (IFN-γ) were determined in skin tissue homogenates after termination of the experiment on day 2 after skin infection with a low dose of bacteria (1.0x10⁶ CFU/spot). Statistical evaluations were performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann–Whitney <i>U</i> test. Data are the mean ± SEM. *<i>P</i> < .05 and **<i>P</i> < .01. PBS, phosphate-buffered saline.
