<p>During both parts of the experiment, participants listened to an ongoing dichotic stimulation that was asynchronous between the ears. In the attention-shift experiment (upper panel), they were instructed to focus on the left- or right-ear stimulus in alternation, and indicate each shift of the attended side by a button press (SR, shift right; SL, shift left). In the control experiment (motor task, lower panel), participants were instructed to ignore the auditory stimulation and press the two response buttons in alternation at the same pace (Mid, middle finger; Idx, index finger).</p
