The development of simple yet ultrasensitive biosensing approaches for the detection of cancer prognostic microRNA is an important step toward their successful clinical implementation. We demonstrate the relevance for the detection of circulating miRNA of a novel signal amplification scheme based on surface plasmon resonance enhanced light scattering (SP-LS).
