A synthetic protocol was developed to create a unique nitrogen-rich (71.58% N) energetic material, namely, 2,3,5,6-tetra(1<i>H</i>-tetrazol-5-yl)pyrazine (H<sub>4</sub>TTP). This compound was prepared using a convenient and straightforward method of synthesis and shows useful energetic properties such as detonation velocity (<i>V</i><sub>C‑J</sub> = 8655 m s<sup>–1</sup>), detonation pressure (<i>p</i><sub>C‑J</sub> = 28.0 GPa), and high temperature of decomposition (<i>T</i><sub>dec</sub> = 260 °C).
