<div><p>Background</p><p>Colon cancer constitutes one of the most frequent malignancies. Previous studies showed that <i>Salmonella</i> manipulates host cell signaling pathways and that <i>Salmonella</i> Typhimurium infection facilitates colon cancer development in genetically predisposed mice.
