Vad, hur och varför? : En religionssociologisk studie om religionslärares val av stoff och undervisningsmetod

Religious education is a school subject that is and has been debated in Sweden. The debates have been about the character of the subject as well as what content, which methods and for what purpose Swedish pupils should learn about religion. In secular Sweden the religious education is supposed to be objective and non-confessional. As a future upper secondary school teacher with religious education as one of my subjects the school subject is highly relevant for me. Since religious education is one of the school subjects I will teach, I am interested in how employed teach-ers handle the didactical choices concerning religious education. During my edu-cation and internships I have come in contact with the didactical choices teachers have to make every day. These choices interest me and this essay’s purpose is to examine what, how and why teachers choose the content, methods and the pur-pose they do. In order to do so I analyse interview material from four active upper secondary school religious education teachers. The method used to analyse the in-terview material is textual analysis. The theories used are both sociological theo-ries of religion and didactical theories about learning. The question formulations for this essay are as follows: What content does the teachers advocate? Which methods do the teachers advocate? Why do the teacher choose that content and those methods? The examination shows that the teacher’s didactical choices seem to reflect the secularist society as well as a pragmatical and sociocultural perception of knowledge. There’s also a uniformity in the way the teachers reason about the re-ligious education’s content, methods and purpose.Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka fyra religionkunskapslärares di-daktiska val, med utgångspunkt i de didaktiska grundfrågorna vad, hur och varför. Frågeställningarna som används har varit de tre följande: Vilket innehåll förespråkar lärarna för religionsundervisningen? Vilka metoder förespråkar lärarna för religionsundervisningen? Varför väljs detta innehåll och dessa metoder i religionsundervisningen? Den metod som använts har varit textanalys med systematisk textkondensering som tillvägagångssätt. Denna metod har tillämpats på materialet, vilket har varit fyra stycken lärarintervjuer. De teorier som använts har varit både religionssocio-logiska och didaktiska. Från dessa teorier har koncept och begrepp hämtats och applicerats vid analys av resultatet.De slutsatser som framkommit i denna uppsats är att det innehåll, de metoder och de syften med innehållsval och metodval som lärarna lyfter fram kan ses av-spegla det sekulära och individualiserade samhälle där de är verksamma. Detta tar sig uttryck i lärarnas formuleringar kring deras didaktiska val, då de strävar efter att sprida kunskap och skapa acceptans för religion.
