Recommendations for genetic counseling : Starting point for developing principles

Medical genetics services have been recently extended and have already started to treat not only single gene disorders but also common chronic diseases. In such circumstances, we have to recognize that the implementation of medical genetics services must not be undertaken in absence of facilities to provide psychological and social support including genetic counseling. However there are not sufficient network and professionals for patient support in Japan. Therefore I would like to propose "The Recommendations for Genetic Counseling" as the starting point for developing principles
