Using mental health services for performance-related purposes overlooks the conditions of student athletes’ lives. Student athletes must balance coursework, practice and competition, public scrutiny and demanding expectations all while navigating the challenge of becoming a psychologically healthy adult. How the athlete manages these challenges will impact their athletic performance, scholastic achievement, social well-being, and emotional health. This presentation will explore a more in-depth counseling model for counseling student-athletes at the division 1 collegiate level
