The use of internet at the university libraries located in Ankara

In this research, the use of Internet and its application in university libraries located in Ankara, including the Higher Education Council Documentation Center have been examined in detail. We have also evaluated the librarians who work in these libraries whether they have got information on the Internet, whether they have been trained in this subject and if they have, the kind of training that they obtained has been searched. The survey method has been used in the study and data was collected through a questionnaire, interviews and review of the current literature. By way of the data obtained, we determined whether the university libraries in Ankara have connections to the Internet. We have reviewed the kind of services offered by university libraries, which use Internet facilities. We have also investigated the frequency and length of Internet use and costs associated with it. The Internet training programs taken by librarians and their specialties have also been examined in the study. The necessary points for Internet training have been expressed by taking into consideration of librarians' views and expectations
