Abstract Background : Adolescent nutrition is a negative impact on the health of adolescent that is closely related to the occurrence of menstruation that is affected by hormone production. Young women need to consume food to maintain the balanced nutritional status that teenagers need at the time of menstruation. Menstruation is a normal physiological phenomenon experienced by every adolescent. Nutrition consumed by teenagers affects reproductive function and growth in organ function. Nutrition is one of the factors that affect the duration or duration of menstruation in adolescents. Nutritional status can be done by measuring body mass index and type of food consumed. Body Mass Index is a good indicator of recommendation in the determination of juvenile nutrition status. Objective: to know the description of menstrual period in adolescent. Method: This research type is analytical descriptive with cross sectional method with sample number 56 responden. Result : Normal BMI with normal menstrual period (3 - 7 days) was 16 respondents or 64%. More than skinny BMI, BMI obesity and BMI obesity with normal menstrual period. Types of foods that are often consumed as much as 58.9% carbohydrates, 57.1% protein, 57.1% fastfood and the type of food that is sometimes consumed is 57.1% fat and 51.8% fiber. Conclusions : Normal BMI is more than teenagers with skinny, obese and obese BMI. Long Menstruation is normal more than abnormal menstrual period. Types of foods that are often consumed by teenagers are carbohydrates, proteins, fastfoods and types of foods that are sometimes consumed by teenagers are types of foods fat and fiber.
