This paper analyzed transient magnetic fields generated by the lightning current in the presence of 3-D conductive plates. An extended partial element equivalent circuit method was introduced to establish a network with frequency-invariant parameters for time-domain simulation. Three techniques were proposed to reduce the computational complexity in the largeplate simulation, including the analytical function of current density, the non-uniform meshing scheme, and the vector fitting technique. Numerical and experimental results were presented to validate the proposed method. Good agreements were observed.Department of Building Services Engineering2016-2017 > Academic research: refereed > Publication in refereed journalbcr
