Force transmissibility is commonly adopted in building services engineering to assess the performance of vibration isolation. However, it neglects the effect of floor mobility on structure-borne sound power transmitted from a vibratory machine to the floor/roof and the interactions among several contact points between the vibratory machine and the floor/roof. The problem that motivated this study is the occasional occurrence of unsatisfactory performance of vibration isolators observed in building services engineering.
