This paper studies the phenomena of intermittent subharmonics and chaos in DC-DC converters according to the consideration of coupling filter, consequently concludes that the origin of intermittency comes from conducted or radiated EMI. By constructing a circuit model of switching converter coupled with spurious signal, simulation can gain the same results as those from experiment. Furthermore the paper discusses the different effect on intermittency induced by different sets of parameters, thus provides the design consideration of reliability. The same research method can also be used to study the intermittency in other types of nonlinear circuits and systems.Department of Electronic and Information Engineerin
