1999 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, IEMDC 1999, Seattle, WA, 9-12 May 1999A thorough understanding of the dynamic starting behaviour of induction motors could help the users to ensure good compatibility between the motor drives and the loads being driven. This paper presents the work developed with the aid of a Pentium PC in studying the starting behaviour of induction motors. It is shown in the paper that the test data captured in the laboratory have good agreement with the simulation results. Very good correlations are also obtained when the simulations are compared with published data.
