Dietary intake calculated using the 5th Revised Edition of Food Composition Tables was compared to that calculated using the 4th Revised Edition of Food Composition Tables. Subjects were elementary school children in grades 1 through 6 in K City, Saitama Prefecture. Dietary intake was assessed by weighed dietary records in June, 1999. After eliminating incomplete dietary records, subject were 606 (92.7%), 304 boys (93.0%), 302 girls (92.4%). As a result, energy, protein, lipid, calcium, retinol and vitamin C intake were higher than 4th revised edition, but iron, vitamin B_1, vitamin B_2 and sodium were lower than 4th revised edition for the calculation using the 5th revised edition of Food Composition Tables.
