This paper analyzes the political culture of Venezuela during the Hugo Chavez government, especially how much the partisan political movement of the defunct president had its roots in the structures (attitudinal and positive) of the people who followed him. We take into consideration the public opinion data of 1998-2015 of Latinobarometro and a poll conducted in 2016 by the Red de Estudios Politicos of Venezuela (RedPol), which focuses on political culture. Our findings suggest the existence of highly partisan social settings in poor, yet democratic, areas.
