O teatro de Beckett e as velhas questões

How to explain a dramatic work such as Endgame, by Samuel Beckett? This article aims at reviewing this question. At first, literary criticism has associated this play with the Theater of the Absurd and, by extension, with Existentialist philosophy, as if Beckett’s plays were a critic to the “metaphysical condition of the human existence”. In agreement with the philosopher Theodor Adorno, we believe that Endgame is not to be interpreted as an investigation on the “human condition”. On the contrary, we believe that play offers a parody of Existencialist philosophy and theater, and it is distinguished by its rejection of any conceptual discourse in contemporary society.De que maneira interpretar um texto literário como Fim de partida, de Samuel Beckett? Este artigo retoma essa pergunta. Veremos que a crítica, em um primeiro momento, pôde associar Fim de partida ao teatro do absurdo e, por extensão, à filosofia existencialista, como se o teatro de Beckett fosse uma crítica à “condição metafísica do homem”. Seguindo as intuições do filósofo Theodor Adorno, este artigo acredita que Fim de partida não deve ser interpretada como uma análise da “condição humana”. Pelo contrário, entendemos que a peça propõe uma paródia do teatro e da filosofia existencialistas, e que ela se particulariza pela crítica a qualquer discurso que se pretenda conceitual ou filosófico na sociedade contemporânea
