The Malaise of Democracy in Latin America: Struggles and Resistance Today

Neste artigo tratamos, fundamentalmente, da difícil relação entre regime político, neoliberalismo e lutas sociais na América Latina nos anos de 1990. Esta difícil relação tem causado, aos setores populares, uma espécie de mal-estar político e ideológico, uma vez que as democracias instauradas desnudam seus limites conforme as ações dos movimentos anti-sistêmicos se intensificam.In this article we discuss, fundamentally, the difficult relationship between political regime type, neoliberalism and social struggles in Latin America during the 1990s. This difficult relationship has provoked among popular sectors a kind of political and ideological malaise, since the democracies that were established increasingly demonstrate their limits as the actions of antisystem movements intensify
