The objective of this paper is to present the development of Spanish advertising during the 20- 30 decades of the twentieth century (1920-1936), and analyze the relationship it had with American advertising. In those years, Spain had developed an incipient consumer-based society in which advertising played a consolidating role. Due to the break out of the civil war (1936- 1939), and the subsequent isolation provoked by Franco’s regime, it had been impossible to conduct much research in the field.
